Generally your introduction to homework at Assumption Senior Girls NS is when your child joins us in 3rd Class. Here is an outline of what your child will do for homework in 3rd class:

• In 3^rd class we use three books for homework. The children typically receive English spellings, Irish spellings, Mental Maths activities, and tables.
• We are currently using a programme called Spellings For Me for English spellings. This is an individualised spellings programme, meaning every child receives different spellings at their own level. Children are tested every four weeks and this is completed online.
• 12 Irish spellings are given every week and the children have a weekly spelling test on a Friday.

• Each night, the children get 16 mental Maths question and these cover and revise every strand of the 3^rd class Maths curriculum. They also include word problems.
• We also give tables each night which are to be learned by heart.
• Please ensure that your child’s homework diary is signed every night and that homework (written and learning) is checked.
• If your child is unable to complete their homework, please send a note in their homework diary to inform the class teacher.
